The French Riviera is a region known worldwide for the beauty of its sites, its history and its favourable climate which remains pleasant in all seasons. Since the middle of the 19th century, the region and especially the areas of Cannes, Cap d’Antibes and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat are particularly attractive to tourists from all over the world. The vicinity of Cap Ferrat to the Principality of Monaco and Nice airport, and its largely unspoilt natural beauty, bolster its appeal to high net worth individuals. These visitors contribute significantly to the economy and the level of employment in the regions and cities they choose to visit. Yet, there are limited luxury accommodations catering to high-net-worth visitors and their families in Cap Ferrat and accommodations that do exist are usually fully booked long before the summer season even begins.

In addition, since many of these visitors are looking for discretion and privacy, they prefer luxury private residences where they can stay with their families and friends to five-star luxury hotels. This demand for private accommodation has recently been further reinforced by fears connected to the risk of contracting COVID-19 in public places. The Cap Ferrat Peninsula has a number of quality villas available for rent, generally on a monthly basis in the summer. However, this discerning clientele is most often looking for a high level of service and very modern amenities which are rarely available in the context of a seasonal rental. Indeed, very few newly restored large villas with five-star hotel service are available for seasonal rental in Cap Ferrat, especially with direct sea access. The better ones are booked months or years in advance. In fact, the best, most iconic and well-renovated villas on the peninsula are generally reserved for the private use of their owners. https://www.capferratvillas.fr/ now provides these international visitors with access to the highest quality accommodation and exceptional level of service they are accustomed to experiencing in five-star hotels and serviced residences around the world.

Our sponsors are entrepreneurs whose companies have for several years invested in many commercial and real estate activities around the world. They are fond of France, its culture, its history and of the French Riviera. In 2019 they had started investigating various locations to launch a collection of boutique hotels in luxury villas. In spring 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was raging, they looked specifically at the area around Nice for existing private serviced accommodation to safely host elderly guests during the summer and discovered that unlike other locations, very few recently renovated serviced villas were available to rent in the region and especially in the Cap Ferrat Peninsula. They also witnessed that the tourism industry in the French Riviera was devastated by COVID-19 related lockdowns and travel restrictions. Due to their personal fondness for the region, they decided to engage in investment in the area, through subsidiaries of companies they control, in hospitality business activities that would result in economic benefits to the region. Creating ‘covid-safe’ private residences that can be more suited to affluent foreign visitors than hotels appeared an appropriate course of action due to the small number of such full service residences available on the market at the time, especially with direct sea access.
Beyond the time period of the pandemic, this activity is creating significant employment opportunities for local workers. Each large serviced villa employs a staff of up to 10 persons during high season as well as many contractors during the year for maintenance and upkeep of the buildings to the highest levels. Prior to opening each home to visitors, significant building and renovation works to bring these luxury residences to the best international comfort levels and current environmental standards are performed. This also supports many local companies and jobs. Further details on the opening  of these properties, on completion of renovations, will be available in due course. In addition to the 4 villas already available for rent, another villa will be offered for the summer of 2024 and others the following summers as their renovation is completed.
